The nerd has completed his computer build.

Just finished putting together the computer yesterday and it works awesome. It's so much faster than the 8 yr old computer we have. Much more efficient and cleaner. Here are the specs if anyone wants to know. Otherwise please don't read this. That WILL make you read this:

Case - Antec III Mid Tower - $124 (Found later on Newegg for $99-crap!)

Motherboard -MB GIGABYTE GA-MA78GM-US2H AM2+ HDMI - $69.00

CPU -CPU AMD|A64 X2 7750 2.7G AM2 - $59.00

Memory - G.SKILL 4 GB(2xGB) 240-pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 1066 (PC2 8500 Dual Channel Kit) - $52.99

Hard Drive - WD 500GB 7200 RPM SATA 3.0GBs - OEM - $74.99

DVD Rom - LG 22X DVD±R DVD Burner Black SATA - OEM - $24.99

DVD Rom - LG 22X DVD±R DVD Burner with LightScribe Black SATA - OEM -$23.99

OS - Windows 7 Beta (Next Microsoft OS Replacing Vista) - FREE!

Total ~ $429 and NO TAXES
Retail Equivelent ~ $799 - $899

The motherboard can be upgraded to 16 GB of RAM. I don't know why you would need that much memory but I'm sure I'll work my way up to it.

Never tried LightScribe before so it will be interesting to see how it "prints" the DVD/CD label.

So far Microsoft 7 OS has been awesome. So much better than Vista. Microsoft is continually trying to copy Apple's designs and this is another attempt by them.

The motherboard has an HDMI port. I hooked it up to our LCD and it looks fabulous. I'm thinking about building an entertainment machine specifically for Blue Ray and 7.1 Audio. Then putting 2 TB of HD in it and burning a ton of movies to it. That's down the road a bit though.

Everything went together very nicely. No problems to getting it started and everything works great! Now it's time to tweek it a bit and see how far I can overclock the CPU and RAM. I sound like a complete geek. Who cares, I'm married.

I really enjoyed putting this together so if you think you would like to build one let me know! Will work for food.

You're such a nerd! But I'm pretty sure I'm just jealous. I wish I were a nerd sometimes. I know NOTHING about computers - hense my annoying requests for your help with everything. Anyway - congrats. We know who to call when we need anything - because aparently... MARK does it ALL!
