Sandbox!

Here is an update on the sandbox. I finally finished the box and just needed to add the sand. I bought 15 bags of 50lb sand and it covered about 1/3 of the sand box. That's a lot of freakin' sand! I added two more posts on the end to support the little deck. I got one wall up and should have the rest up sometime this week. Yeah right, we'll see. It depends on how much "Home Teaching" I will have to do.
Laney wanted to show me her "treasure". It's a Sabastion form (from the Little Mermaid) to used in the sand.

With all my free time now that I've graduated, Paula wanted a sandbox built for the kids. I looked at a few different designs on the web to get some ideas. I've decided to build a 5 1/2' x 10' sandbox with a little "clubhouse" on top. We might put a slide on it also.

Day 1: I started on Monday by buying most of the wood. It cost more than we wanted to spend, so we're doing our part for the economic stimulus plan. I put up the posts that will hold up the upper part. I'll post pictures of my progress.

First I put the posts in.

Then I put up the 2x4 supports. Notice how some of the posts are longer. I had to do this to make sure the 2x4s would be level.

Then I sawed of the longer posts to level them out. Pretty sweet eh?
